Taking Exams
Taking On-Line Exams
Students in Level 1, 2, 3, and some Level 4 courses will take their course exams on-line through their course management system. Practical Exams are downloaded from the course site and submitted to the instructor.
Each exam has a large bank of test questions and each time the student takes the exam, their course management system will randomly assign a predetermined number of these questions to the exam that they are taking.
Each exam is timed, and students have a finite amount of time to complete the exam. The time to take the exam will vary from class to class and exam to exam depending on the difficulty of the exam.
Students may take the exam at any time once it has been made available by the staff and they may take the exam as many ties as they want, until they achieve the score that they want until the exam closes.
Exams open and close on a varying schedule depending upon the course. The course management system only retains the student’s most recent score, not the highest score. Students who fail to take the exam during th allotted time frame will not be permitted to take the exam after it closes.
Students do not have to be proctored to take the on-line exams.
Many students use the on-line exams to continually review the course material and assess their knowledge of the material. The on-line exams should be thought of as a learning tool, not just an assessment tool.
There are specific written instructions for new students in each course site on how to take on-line exams.
