Admission Criteria

The Cedar Valley College Upward Bound Program serves qualified high school students from Lancaster and David W. Carter High Schools who meet the following criteria:

  • Are currently enrolled in the 9th or 10th grade.
  • Are from a family that meets federal guidelines on income, or is considered to be a Potential First-Generation College Student. A Potential First-Generation College Student is an individual neither of whose natural or adoptive parents received a baccalaureate degree; or a student who, prior to the age of 18, regularly resided with and received support from only one natural or adoptive parent and whose supporting parent did not receive a baccalaureate degree.
  • Are citizens, nationals or permanent residents of the United States.
  • Have a need for academic support in order to successfully pursue a program of education beyond high school.

Our goal is to increase the numbers of these students to enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education.
